I am looking for info on Thomas Wiltsie, killed in action August 21, 1944. He is a relative of a colleague at work and he has no details as to what happened to him. Were they bombing Berlin?
There is only one Wiltsie killed period in the WW's, an engineer in 1945. First/second name does not even match. Perhaps a spelling check required. Allyoop
This man was killed in a mid air collision with another 415 squadron Halifax on 8/21/44. The crash killed the squadron's Wingco, John McNeill, Wiltsie and ten other airmen.
I have some more info on this inbcident, I'll post it tonight.

this is a classic example of the frustrations caused when sites like CWGC and feeder requests do not tally !! CWGC site will only respond to information given - it cannot 'guess' at answers .
Okay so here is the scoop on this airman he was killed on 8/21/44 when Halifax(s) MZ633 and NA609 were invilved in a mid air collision. In total 12 airmen from 415 squadron were killed in the incident, including the sqn's Wing Commander.
The duty described is Transit from Exeter for both aircraft rather than an operational loss. There were no operational losses reported on either the 20th or 21st of Aug. The crash was 5 miles southwest of Selby, Yorkshire on the Doncaster Rd. between Birkin and West Haddlesey. Regards Dave Wallace

I seem to recall reading that there was heavy fog.
I have nothing on the weather at the time. The aircraft involved were NA 609 6U-? of 415 Squadron & MZ 633 QO-B of 432 Squadron, both in transit from Exeter at the time they collided. Regards Dave Wallace
