Does anyone have the ORB's for March - July 1944

Does anyone know anyone who had relatives in 635 squadron

Thanks Nicola

Nicola,
I can help you out with information from the ORB. If you would like scans of any pages relating to the ops covered, can you let me have your email address via my "whiteboard" on my profile page please.
Alan.

Hi Alan,

I have left my email address on your whiteboard. Thanks for helping me with the research on my uncle Thomas Scullion Bradys time in 635 Downham market. Would anyone have ORB or info on his time in 76 squadron. Do you know what kind of info his service record will hold. Thanks
Nicola

Hi Alan,

the ORB shows a F/O Brady (Air Bomber) posted out of 76 Squadron Holme on Spalding Moor 12/12/43.

Bill Chorleys book; To See The Dawn Breaking has no mention of Thomas Scullion Brady.

Hi Alan

Uncle Tommy was posted to 35 squadron from 76 on 22nd December 1943 RAF Graveley Huntingdonshire Cambridgeshire. I have no idea when he joined 76, I assume this was his first posting after training. I know he went to Canada to train.

As I mentioned before I have all his ops from 35 squadron and also the month of August 1944 from 635 as that was the month he died. But I am stumped with the rest.

I am in the process of applying for his service record to be sent which may shed some light on his training which started in Canada and then when he was sent back to England I presume. I would love to know his entire path from where he left his home in Annbank Scotland until he went into the Baltic Sea that night.

I have some letters here that he wrote to his sister and they mentioned he was training to be Navigator but he had second thoughts and the next thing he was Bomb Aimer. I wonder if he ever went to be pilot and didn't cut it.

Any help would be so much appreciated, thanks for all your valuable time.

Nicola

Nicola,

I've found that he was on his 22nd operation with 635sqdn when lost, and it would appear that from the date of his previous operation on 12th August, they had probably just come back from a spell of leave. The crew were posted in to 76sqdn on 23rd Sept 43, and flew 6 ops (the first one was aborted) before being posted out, as Mike stated, in Dec 43. Will be in touch via email very soon.

Alan.

I have researched the operational tour of the pilot, Frank Healey, for my uncle, who knew him during childhood.  Main sources were Operational Record Books (76, 35 and 635 Squadrons), London Gazettes, W R Chorley's Bomber Command Losses series and Martin Middlebrook and Chris Everitt's Bomber Command War Diaries.

Hello Nicola. I am intrigued that someone else besides me is interested in Frank Healey, who was known in the family as Billy. I am 82, and Billy would today be 97 had he survived. So he would have been 20 when I was 5, but I am sure I met him once or twice when visiting his parents with mine back in about 1940.

I can tell you quite a lot about him. But who are you? Are you a relation of his? I am not aware of anyone else alive today who would have met him. You could phone me on 023 8026 9341 if you wish.

Geoff Dobson.

Hi Geoff so sorry i haven't replied I didn't realise you had messaged. Frank Healey was the pilot of my Great Uncle Tommy Brady's crew. They went down together in their Lancaster 75 years ago tonight. I have been researching the crews time at war. I have compiled a booklet with all the info I could find and have a picture of the crew.
