I am new to this forumso if this post is inappropriate please advise. My interest is in researching Sgt Merton who was lost in a Wellington crash in 1943.  Any remembrances of him would be appreciated.

Paul Merton was the Air Bomber in the Lupton crew. Their Wellington suffered engine failure en route to Mannheim on 16 April 1943 and came down in the sea. 2 members of the crew got into the dinghy and pulled Merton in but he was badly injured and died a few hours later. The 2 survivors were rescued after spending 5 days in the dinghy. The other 2 members of the crew also perished. Email me on mjc41uk @yahoo.co.uk if you require more information about Merton. I have the 166 Squadron thread on this site. Cheers. B
