I hope this information is helpful for anyone researching anything to do with 115 and 75 Sqn who were based at RAF Witchford and RAF Mepal.  I was lucky enough to visit the wonderful RAF Witchford Display of Memorabilia which is situated on what was the airfield during WW2.  This very small but perfect tribute to the men and women who served both there and Mepal was established by Sue and the late Barrie Aldridge and contains many photographs, personal accounts, artworks and a Bristol Hercules engine recovered from a local crash site.  They also produced a wonderful book about the history of RAF Witchford which I happily bought to support the Display efforts.

It was and is a labour of love which recognizes the huge contribution made by everyone who served in the area so it could provide some information which might be valuable for some of our members.  Please bear in mind that it is run entirely by volunteers if you are making an inquiry and if you were in the area and hoped to visit please email first to check opening times etc and often is available on a call in basis.  The website is  http://www.rafwitchfordandmepal.co.uk/  - and it gives basic information including a contact email - again bearing in mind that it may take a while to get a reply.

Out of the back of the Display there are 3 of the original nissen huts that eventually will be converted to house more of the Display - sadly as yet it isn't possible to visit them.

There is also a small memorial on the site (which is now an industrial estate) to 115 Sqn which is situated where part of the runway was.

So many of the squadron were lost and it is a testament to Sue and Barrie that they have made sure that the history has not been forgotten.

Lest we forget.
