I read many of our boys lost their lives on the home run though damaged aircraft .Can someone tell me would it be classified that the crew died in action or was there another term used by the senders of such bad news .

Can anyone help ewith info on the above? He is listed on the CWGC site as died 30/12/44 and was a Wop/Agnr with 161 (RAF) Squadron. The problem is .....161 Sqdn did not lose any a/c that night and I can find no trace of him (so far) in the ORB or Battle Orders. Ideas? TIA, Bob
