They are buried at the Heverlee War Cemetry in Belgium , initialy they were buried by the Germans at the allied cemetry on the nightfighter airfield of St-Trond ( Sint-Truiden in Dutch ) in Belgium.Does somebody can help finding back their grave numbers at the Allied cemetry.
I don't believe the cemetery at St Trond was ever anything but German with the airfield being a nightfighter base for the Luftwaffe. After the war CWGC moved all bodies to other cemeteries chiefly Heverlee. Cwgc no longer lists St Trond on their website Dick
There was an allied cemetery on the airfiled of Saint-Trond. I'm 100% sure! The German cemetery was not located on the airfiled. German soldiers/crews were till the end of 1942 buried on the cemetery of Schuurhoven, Saint-Trond. The remains of the German soldiers/crews were transfered to the "Ehrenfriedhof" Brustem (village near the base) at the end of 1942 till May 1948. The CWGC moved the remains of the allied airmen from the airfield to Heverlee (Leuven) and other cemeteries after the war. CWGC has almost or all the gravenumbers of the allied crewmembers in their files.
Greetings from Belgium
Alexander

I know this is a very old post, but do you still have access to the list of Canadians initially buried at St Trond. I am trying to establish whether Leslie Ernest Carey was buried there. He was a flight engineer who was KIA (we believe over Wandre) on 29th June 1943 [Halifax HR812].
Also, do you have any information relating to the location of the crash site?
Regards
Pete
