RCAF James Eugene Zegarschuk KIA over Belgium
Permalink

Hello,
Who can help me to find any information on Sgt (?) or P/O (?) James Eugene Zegarschuk RCAF J/89947, bombaimer.
He got KIA on 24 of April 1944 over Belgium, 115 Sqn, Lancaster HK-542, Base Witchford. Shot down by Oblt Schnaufer Heinz of Stab IV,/NJG 1
I looked at www.warmuseum.ca (newspapers) for some information (notice about his death) but nothing!
He was first buried on the Allied cemetery of the German air base of Brustem (Saint-trond, Belgium) and transfered to Heverlee (Belgium) cemetery after the war.
Thanks

Alexander

your search problem seems to be the result of a slight spelling mistake - the surname does not appear to contain an 'S'

the CWGC site states
ZEGARCHUK, JAMES EUGENEInitials:J ENationality:CanadianRank:Pilot Officer (Air Bomber)Regiment/Service:Royal Canadian Air ForceUnit Text:115 (R.A.F.) SqdnAge:22Date of Death:25/04/1944Service No:J/89947Additional information:Son of Julia Zegarchuk, of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.Casualty Type:Commonwealth War DeadGrave/Memorial Reference:5. E. 10.Cemetery:HEVERLEE WAR CEMETERY
just shows how easy it is to be let down by technology ! does this help you in your search ??

good luck - jettisoning

I am the nephew of James Zegarchuk.  What would you like to know?
