The Bomber Command War Diaries in one of their descriptions of minor operations states the following, "69 Mosquitoes to Berlin, 8 to Neuss, 58 R.C.M. Sorties" can anyone tell me what the letters R.C.M. stand for ????
Thx. Bill.

Radio Counter Measures - Everthing from radio jamming, airborne cigar,  to having German speaking crew that directed German fighters with the wrong instructions. 100 Group I believe were the main RCM squadrons.

Hi Bill
If you can get a look at a book, Instruments of Darkness by Alfred Price, it gives a description of many of the devices used in the Radio war including those for Radio Countermeasures which Dave has given as the meaning of the abbreviation. You might also get something by using the phrase or the Abbreviation on Google
Regards
Dick

Hi Dave, Thanks for your reply to my enquiry. This forum is really great and the responses generally speaking are fairly quick. Every little bit helps me to understand a bit more. Thanks again. Bill.

Thanks also to you Dick, I'll see if I can lay my hands on the book you suggested, Bill.
