I am looking for information on the subject gentleman who was a navigator on Wellingtons with 40 Squadron based out of Italy. He was shot down twice, the first time on the Peenemunde raid, where he was successful in evading capture and made it back to allied forces,. The second time he was found by Mihalovich's forces and spent 2 1/2 months with Mihalovich.
Regarding Norman Reid, he is listed as a member of R.A.F.E.S., Canadian Branch, but there are no details on him. If he is still with us, he lives at 657 Ardmore Drive, RR2, Sidney, B.C. V8L 2S1, and Tel. 604-656-0618.
I have all the Dossiers of the members of Royal Air Forces Escaping Society, Canadian Branch, that sent in their stories, but Reid was not one of them.
If anybody is doing a study of Canadian Evaders, this dossier is available since the group has, essentially, dissolved.
I have been in contact with Norm who is a very good friend of my dad. I am getting some details from him and contrary to what I originally posted, the first time he was shot down was near Anzio. His boots were ripped off in the slipstream when he bailed out. He eventually made his way to a MASH unit and returned to his squadron.
Yes sir, I know. But his grandfather is very tight-lipped about it. If it was not for this fact, my friend would have found information on his own. I was just hoping that there may be some sort of search engine set-up somewhere where a persons name could just be typed in, and walla. Thanks anyhow mate.
