Another Halifax Air Gunner Joining

Hi all, looking forward to some interesting topics, i'm mad on the RAF and in particular the good old Halifax Bomber, I live right in the heart of nr 4 group bomber command country, so loads of old airfields to research, right on the doorstep, well almost of the Yorkshire Air Museum as well.

Many of you may have come across this before, its on a few ww2 aviation forums, but I'm involved in the commisioning of a memorial to 14 Airmen who died in a collision between two halifax bombers on 19 / 8 / 1943 at the vilage of Copmanthorpe, nr York, we have a good amount of info so far on this subject and its still very much ongoing. if anyone out there has a good selection of photos of WW2 aircraft, I still need photos of
  • Rufforth based 1663 Heavy Conversuion Unit Halifax Mark BV, Manufactured by Rootes Securities, Speke
serial number DG420 codes either OO or SV and possibly letter H

  • Riccall based 1658 Heavy Conversion Unit Halifax Mark B11, manufactured by Handley Page Ltd Cricklewood & Radlett
R9497 either TT or ZB - ? some aircraft of 1658 just had 19 instead of a code, but we believe ours was ZA V, with 10 Squadron, prior to delivery at 1658 HCU and 102 Sq before that
Also needed are photos of two headstones one in Sunbury Cemetery and one in Glasgow, if anyone lives there, we have most of them now, and finaly cash, if anyones loaded and wants to contribute then please feel free to contact me, well shy bairns get no sweets eh.

Anyway thats my purpose in life at the moment, to make sure these guys are never forgotten

Full details are available here Halifaxhero - HALIFAX HEROES

Regards, Halifaxbomber
