I can really recommend the December edition of 'Fly Past' magazine, bet most of you get it anyway, 36 page tribute to the Halifax, mostly relating to the Friday 13th re-creation at Elvington, but a very good read and worth getting

All written probably by a bunch of guys who never froze their buns off at 20,000 feet in a Halibag. Who never landeds back at base with 35 gallons rolling around the fuel tanks. Who never tried to turn around in the tail turret, or climb down from the Mid-upper in a pinch. Who tried to open the escape Hatch desperately, with the fire getting closer and closer. Who tried to keep her straight and level while the Skipper had a piss.

Yeah, she was a grand old Bird, but she made you work hard for her love!

Well said, I will never know or can even start to imagine the life of a ww2 bomber aircrew, but i salute and respect those who did.
