Been asked by a buddy regarding the following, any ideas anyone - ''''United States B-17, serial 42-5483. As I understand it was being lent to my grandfather's crew, as theirs was grounded (don't know the specifics on that). They were downed (can't find how). Pilot was WIA/POW, and 5 others (my grandpa one of them) also POW. The bombadier, ball gunner, and waist gunners were all KIA. This was 29 November, 1943 approximately 12 miles west of Bremen, Germany.''''

Jim,

42-5483 belonged to the 360th Bomb Squadron, 303rd Bomb Group at the time it was lost, based at Molesworth. See Missing Aircrew Report (MACR) referenced here: http://www.armyairforces.com/Databases/MACR/tabid/102/Default.aspx

I suggest you log on to ArmyAirForces.com go to FORUMS and post your question in the 303rd Bomb Group sub-forum.

Cheers, Ken
