I'm new here. I figured I'd post here with all the in depth discussion and wealth of knowledge being shared.
I came across some old newspaper articles about a Halifax that crashed Jan 16 1945. Several members were ordered to bail out and did so. The rest of the crew crashed with the plane. The plane and bodies were recovered four years latter in a bog. The plane was recovered 27 feet deep the boggy ground of Diepholzer Moor, near Hanover Germany. Pilot was P/O Ronald Erwin Harvey of Hamilton, On and F/E Jim McCormick of Port McNicoll, ON.
One of those who bailed was captured and remained a POW until liberation in June of 1945 (WO2 Reg Wilson WAG)
Anyone by chance know the Squadron and code of the plane in question, as well as the rest of the crew? Thanks Dave
P/O R. Harvey RCAF and crew, flying Halifax III NR-205 coded PT-L, failed to return from this operation. P/O J. McCormick RCAF - killed . Sgt P. Morissette RCAF POW. F/O C. Bryce RCAF POW. Sgt R. Wilson RCAF POW. F/Sgt K. Reid RCAF POW. F/Sgt A. Little RCAF POW. 2 crew were killed and 5 POWs.

In the meantime I had only been able to figure out they were from 420 Squadron. I may have an opportunity to talk with Sgt. R. Wilson sometime soon. I'll keep you posted. Let me know if you need to know anything.
