F/O Stanley Gibbens - Wellingtons and Lancasters
Permalink

Hi, new to the forum.

I would appreciate any advice on how I can find any info at all on F/O Stanley Gibbens who was from Cardiff.  We believe he flew a few missions over France and Germany in both Wellingtons and Lancasters during WW2 and apparrantly started out as a gunner but this is as much as we know at present - I don't have his service number unfortunately.

Regards

Stewart

Do you know anything more about him? I have a great grandfather named Stanley Alfred James Gibbens who flew a plane for the RAF in WW2.

One night in September 1944, Flying Officer Hay was the navigator of an aircraft detailed to attack Bottrop. It was his third operational mission. Whilst over the target the pilot was severely wounded and lost control of the aircraft which went into a dive.
