Hi, I'm a new member to this wonderful site I came across it well looking for information on the above squadron which my Grandfather served in. I have his flight book and medals and have been searching on and off for any information that i can find about other members of his squadron so if anyone out there has any flight books from this squadron (from WWII) and would like to share what they can with me I will be very grateful. Cheers Michael (Grandson of FLT/L A.J.W.Bodley aka Bill)smile

Hello Michael,

Would your Grandfather have flown Stirlings with 75 (NZ) squadron?

All I can find is, as one of 66 wireless operator/air gunner's u/t, he left New Zealand on 22 September 1941 aboard the Monterey bound for Canada, and arrived in San Francisco on 7 October 1941.

I'm interested in anything you can add to these few details.

Regards,
Wayne.

Hi Wayne, Thank you for your reply, Yes he was in Stirlings with 75 N.Z Squadron and that discription sounds like him. All that I can add too what you have said is that he started his training at No.2 Wireless School R.C.A.F Calgary Alberta Canada and had his first training flight on 2.2.42 the plane was a Norse No2463 and the pilot was F/O Miller. The 1.30 hours later his 2nd flight was in a Tiger Moth No4835 and the pilot was F/O Bisel and his 3rd flight on the same day was in another Norse No2467 and the pilot was F/O Browder. He then had training flights on 3.2.42 , 4.2.42, 7.2.42 and 9.2.42 which added up to a total flight time of 11 hours. From there he went too No7 B & G Paulson Man where he carried on with his training. I have all his flight dates including combat missions from his first training flight which is mentioned above until his last flight as an instructor which was on 24.4.45 in Wellington No859 and was at 260TU Tarweston. If there is any other dates , plane numbers and pilot names or mission dates you would like to know about let me know and I'll see if I have any records in his flight book about them. Regards Michael.

Hi Michael
My name is Dee.  I am connected to the Friends of 75 (NZ) Sqn Assn.  If you havent already had contact with them please email our Chairman Kevin King on kevinfking@talktalk.net.  We would love to have to have you join us for the Assn Reunions.  We have several veterans who still attend who I am sure that you would love to meet and talk to.  In addition there is a 75 (NZ) Sqn Assn in New Zealand which is run by Sgt Glen Turner who I am sure would also love to hear from you. If the Wayne you have been talking to is the one I think it is I am sure he will give you my email addy if you want to find out more.
Best wishes

Hi Murry,

I might be able to help if you can let me know your dads name.

There are also several Squadron photo's around, taken in different years. I have seen 1943, 44,and 45 photos around, so you might be lucky to find your dad in one.

Regards,

Wayne.

Hi Gerry,

Are you the same Gerry that was a W/Op that I emailed a few years ago?

If so I lost your details. It's great to 'find' you again.

Regards,

Wayne, (NZ)
