Hi all, i'm currently doing some research into the service history of my late grandfather John Howard Crammond- he was a flight engineer in 44 Rhodesia squadron in the Lanc "Sky Floosie" at Dunholme Lodhge & Spilsby, before he moved onto 1661 HCU at Winthorpe - the dates (from his log book) are as below;
1661 HCU @ Winthorpe from 13th april 1944 - 14th may - Stirlings No. 5 LFS @ Syrestone 24th may '44 - 6th june - Lancasters 44 Squadron @ Dunholme Lodge 11th june - 19th september - Lancasters "" "" @ Spilsby 4th - 6th october '44 Lancasters 1661 HCU @ Winthorpe 28th october - 1st january '45 - Stirlings "" "" "" 3rd january - 10th february '45 - Lancasters
In 44 he was mostly in KM-H, but also F, L & J amongst others.
I've found 1 photo of him & his crew with "Sky Floosie", but also know that there was another, different photo previously in a book in publication- unfortunately we haven't been able to find a copy of the book since he didn't tell us which book it was - he just photocopied the page at the local library, so you can imagine the quality!!
I'm in the process of applying for his service history, but any further help or pointers in finding out more would be greatly appreciated. If anyone's interested in scans of the log book i'll post if requested

i've filled in forms i've printed from the site, i'm just getting the other stuff together- because i'm not next of kin i've had to get a covering letter from my uncle, plus copy of death certificate, etc...
