429 Squadron ORB's

Hello All,

Looking for some information on 429 halifax crew - John SHEARDOWN. He was an Air Gunner (tail - I believe) mid 1944 to early 45.
If anyone has ony info on hand about Sheardown and the plane he crewed - Serial No., Code etc, I'd love to hear from you. If not, I have the 429 ORB's on order so I will find it soon enough.

If there is something you would like to find out, let me know while I have the 429 ORB's and I'll see if I can help out. I will only have them for a limited time so provide as many details as you can (especially date) and I'll see what I can find out.

Hi Dave,

you probably are aware of the combat report submitted by F/Sgt Sheardown for 16th August 1944 (online National Archives).

F/S John (Jack).V.Sheardown (R201278) O.C., Rear Gunner, Windsor, Ont.
Halifax III MZ 288 - called O for Oboe. 24 missions in MZ 288; one in each of LV 914; LV993; LV964; MZ903;MZ285;LW684;MZ282;MZ357 and two in LW691.

An appendectomy and Honeymoon with Kathy put Sheardown behind in his trips. While doing a catch-up with F/O John Keslick was bailed out which resulted in 2 broken legs. Sheardown eventually finished his tour  with other pilots. Gord Ritchie filled in as Rear Gunner and his last 14 trips with us completed his tour.
