Does anyone have the ORB from this Squadron, or alternatively, any record of operations carried out by this aircraft from the start of December 1942 to the end of March 1943?
The Avro Lancaster ED329, 57 Sqdn crashed behind the Brickfactory at Maasniel on the 13th of May 1943 at 0305 hrs
"Serial Range ED303 - EE202 This aircraft was one of 620 Lancasters ordered from A.V.roe (Chadderton) in 1941 and built from Nov42 to Jun43 as 129 Mk.1s and 491 Mk.111s, mixed up to ED782 and all Mk.111s from ED783 onwards. Mk.1s were initially fitted with Merlin 20 and the Mk.111s with Merlin 28 engines. ED329 was a Mk.1 and was initially issued to No.207 Sqdn (EM-T) Nov42 and saw service with 617 Sqdn Mar43 before joining No.57 Squadron 9May43 ED329 took part in the following key Operations: With No.207 Sqdn as EM-T, Munich 21/22Dec42; Essen 3/4Jan43; Nuremburg 8/9Mar43, With No.617 Sqdn training only, with No.57 Sqdn, Duisburg 12/13mar43-Lost. ED329 was one of two No.57 Squadron Lancasters lost on this operation. See: ED778. Airborne 2359 12May43 from Scampton. Shot down by a night-fighter and crashed 0305 13May43 at Maasniel (Limburg), Holland. Those who died are buried in Jonkerbos War Cemetery. P/O Wallaces's sister, Agnes, died while on Active Service. Sgt Kehl was the first airman from No.57 Squadron to be taken prisoner in 1943.
