Just wondered if anyone can help with some photos or info...
My grandad served with 102 squadron from May.1943 to October 1943.
Just wondered if there is any one out there who knows of a pilot called John L Causton .
My grandad was Sgt George Ollerhead.
Any scrap of info would be amazing and a photo would be out of this world..
They flew on the Halifax two bombers .
Regards Mark.
A good starting point for you would be to get a copy of the squadrons Operational Record Book (ORB) for 1943 from the National Archives at Kew, it's catalogue reference is AIR 27/809. from this you'll be able to find the names of your grandad's fellow crew members and what missions they flew on. You'll also be able to get the ref numbers of the aircraft they flew in, that should help in finding photos of the aircraft.
You should also visit the 102 Squadron website http://www.102ceylonsquadron.co.uk/index.html If you post your request of the forum there you might get lucky, someone on there may also have a copy of the ORB and be willing to share the info.
Hi, I can get you the ORB's for that date from some one I know.
Would love to talk to you if I am not already (so many people have been in contact this past two weeks, and with user names its hard to telll who is who) about the 102 web site.
Also your grandad was on 102 at the same time as my great uncle Joseph Marsh.
I'll check the eight ORB's I have and get back to you.
