I would like to find more information on my uncle (who I was named after). He was Sgt William Wright 405 Squadron lost on the return leg of a mission to Essen on 10/11th March 1942 on board Wellington Z8428. I have the names of the rest of the crew and am trying to trace surviving relatives, but have little information on him. Did he fly on other missions or with other squadrons. Any advice on where to research would be appreciated

Hi,

The Aussie pilot's files are on line at the National Archives Australia you can axcess them by going to the site. It gives you his home address, which is a start. He joined the Sqn on the 15/10/41 so they would have been a fair way into their 30 ops.

Good luck,

John.
