Seeking info on 218 Gold Coast squadron
Permalink

My uncle was Flt Sgt Joe Thompson, who flew in Harry Warwick's crew in Lancasters. I have all his letters home from 1943 when he joined up at 18, to 1947 when he tagically died from cancer after the war at 22.

I am serialising his letters here http://saveeverystep.wordpress.com/writing-home-wwii-letters-series/ but really want to find as much info about his crew/squadron as possible, in particular any film footage which might exist/photos/surviving crew members.

Can anyone help?

Hello Helen,

You may wish to visit stirlingaircraftsoc.raf38group.org/ forum and make a post, as you have done here. Steve Smith is the historian for 218 Gold Coast Sqn and I trust he will be able to assist you.

Steve, like myself are members here on this forum but I know he on the Stirling forum almost daily.

Cheers,

John
