On this day in 1943 my father flew on his first operation with 12  squadron to Dortmund.This was his first sortie in Lancaster ED995 PH-X the plane that would carry him through all the 30 operations of his first tour!

Quite remarkable that your father flew in the same aircraft for his whole tour. Must have been one of the very few.

Hi John

Completing a full tour in one plane was very rare indeed.
Sadly ED995 was lost just 4 days after dad had finished his first tour.
Six of the crew were killed on this their first operation!
