Hello Everyone,

I would like to take the oppurtunity to introdece myself to you all.

My name is Jan de Wilde,I'm 43 years old and live in a city called Sittard (The Netherlands).

Since I was 18 I am interested in military History, and try to help Veterans and Relatives whenever I can.

Because of my activities for  WW. 2 Veterans and Relatives whom have lost a loved one during the Second World War,did I became a life associatemember of the Welsh Guards Veteran Association and a Honourable Member of 1st Royal Tank Regiment Association.

Since a couple of years I did launched a website about the Commonwealth soldiers buried in the Netherlands and Belgium.

The website can be visited at: http://www.wargravessittard.org

I hope that I have introduced my self to you all and hope to hear from someone.

If there are any questions, please feel free to ask.

Hi Jan
It's a great site and thank you for letting us know about it. I will add it to my list lists of references in the future.
Thanks

It was, as far as I know, the heaviest conventional explosive bomb carried by any aircraft though I believe the USAAF modified a B-29 Superfortress to carry 2 of them underwing in test drops shortly after VE day. The Lancaster was the only ETO aircraft capable of hoisting the Grandslam and even it struggled to obtain the designed drop altitude for optimal effectiveness.
