Dear Sir,

Historian, I am looking for documents of any kind on the DY + R HALIFAX bomber taking off from Topcliffe July 29, 1942 and shot to CORBAIS (BELGIUM) on July 30 at 03.00 am by a Bf 110 (Oberlt ECKARDT).

Where can I find the time sources for the composition of the crew of the 102 Bomber Squadron? Logbook of the base? Thank you for your help.

Best regards.

Hi Alexis-Henri,

The aircraft was from  102 Sqn based at Topcliffe. The crew were as follows;

F/Sgt R F Stone RNZAF

Sgt M A Barrett

F/Sgt J Kirkwood

Sgt E H Williams

F/Sgt B Carroll RCAF

Sgt V H Twining

The ORB's are held in the National Archives in Kew in London. You can obtain the service records of both the RNZAF and RCAF guys but it will take some time. The Canadian archives are at

Personnel Records Centre

National Archives of Canada

Tunney's Pasture

Ottawa, Ontario K1A ON3

Canada.

New Zealand Archives are at.

Archives of New Zealand

PO Box 12 050

Wellington 6144

New Zealand.

Someone may have the ORB's and can send them to you. The pilot was on his 14th Op.

Good luck,

John.
