T/o 2249 Mildenhall. Crash-landed 0355 at Woodbridge airfield, Suffolk after being hit and very severely damaged by flak. F/S Barnes is buried in Sunbury New Cemetery; P/O Gerrard was taken to Brookwood Military Cemetery, both having been mortally wounded by shrapnel. For their outstanding actions during this sortie. P/O Brooks, F/L Fabian RNZAF and F/S Pincott all received gallantry awards, duly published in the London Gazette on 19 May 1944.

I am researching the crash landing of the above aircraft in April 1944. My fathers friend F/S R E Barnes was mortally wounded by flak during a raid on Dussedorf.
