possible reason my uncle stood in for another rear air gunner

My uncle was killed in action May 26 1943.  We have just received his service record that puts him in 12 squadron on 29th May 1943 but also says 100 squadron 29th May 1953 - confusing.  We have always thought he was with 12 squadron as that is what his death record shows so can anyone shed any light on why 100 squadron is mentioned also?  We can find no record of any other sorties out of Wickenby on other nights although he told his brother he had been on over 24.  We would appreciate anyones thoughts on this, thank you.
