Avro Anson EG138 / Moreton Valence ORB?

Hi,

can anyone help with any information regarding the loss a Avro Anson EG138,that crashed near Godmanchester on the 25th April 1944. The Anson belonged to the  Advanced Flying Unit (AFU) at Moreton Valence, working as part of No6 AOS (Air Observer School).  All 4 crew were killed. The Anson may have been shot down by an intruder?

Regards,

Mike

Hi Mike,

There is no reference in Theo Boiten's book nor in Intruders over Britain. I understand there was an Aussie on board, his NAA file is open in Canberra I may be going there in May do you want me to have a look for you.

Regards,

John.

Hi Mike,

I ma just back from Canberra, I had a look at the file and it was an accident. He was on approach to the airfield then dropped into the woods where he was killed. There is a 11 page report on the crash, if you contact me on harleyDOT158ATbigpondDOTcom I'll scan the report and send it to you. I had to order the copies which might take up to 3 weeks to arrive.

With the emaill address replace the DOT and AT with the usual.

Regards,

John.
