Halifax - definitive record ?

I have a lot of books researching the Lancaster, and I have the Chorley series and BC War Diaries, but in identifying and researching specific aircraft, Harry Holmes' "Avro Lancaster - The Definitive Record" is almost my bible.  From this I can identify all that I need to know about a specific aircraft, including importantly when it came to squadron, what it's code letters were, and it's ultimate fate.  I have also seen a lot of similar B-17 info, much of it on the internet, but I have never really come across anything similar for the Halifax.  I have seen a few sites, but I think I remember most or all of these being squadron specific.  Can any Forum members recommend any book that does much the same for the Halifax, or any web site?  I have just ordered a copy of Merric's "Handley Page Halifax" by the way, and wait to see if this goes any way towards satisfying my needs.

Hi,

The book "The Halifax File" by R.N Roberts lists the serial numbers of all Halifaxes built. This is out of print and expensive to buy second hand. You could try ebay or your library. Besides Merricks book I can recommend the following:-

The Halifax at War by Brian Rapier

Halifax Special by Bruce Robertson

Halifax Second to None by Victor Bingham

From Hull Hell and Halifax by Chris Blanchett

Regards,

Mike.

THE HALIFAX FILE

yes , i can recommend this book

some entries are misleading though - LW693 for example - listed as CRASHED AND BURNT AT BIDFORD ON AVON , WORCS , 26 03 44 (a real place) but it should have read BRADFORD ON AVON , WILTSHIRE (the actual site) - an understandable error but it caught me out !
