Hopefully someone with a Chorleys can assist, I am trying to find out the details of the crash in which F/O Paul Tokar was killed on June 29, 1944. Looking for the unit he was with, aircraft serial #, crash details etc.

I believe he was with an OTU but do not know which one.

All help is appreciated.

Matt

Thanks Allan,  it turns out F/O Tokar is from my hometown.  As it turns out Sgt Sollie seems to have had a brother also killed with BC a short time later.

Hi Matt,
This is Ron Johnson from Roade Local History Society. We are arranging the plaque dedication ceremony for Paul Tokar and his 5 RCAF colleagues on 9th November at our Remembrance Day service.
We have done quite a bit of background research, but if you have any details you could share, we would be very grateful.
Regards,
Ron

Hi Matt,

It appears the brother of J B Soillie, P/O Ronald Frederick Sollie was killed on the 5 March 1945 with 420 Sqn. He was the pilot, the aircraft iced up and crashed in Haton Woods near Hazelwood Castle some 3 miles SW of Tadcaster Yorkshire, all were killed.

Regards,

John.
