Hi, I'm looking for any information on DV220 AS-J , I have crew list and know the mission started from Kirmington to leipzig, taking off 23.21 and was beleived shot doen by lone wolf night fighter. 3 crew were lost including W.Dykes. I am particularly intrested in where this aircraft went down. Any information email please @mancel.wood@sky.com

Hi,

Lancaster Mk III DV220 of 166 Squadron was shot down 19/20 February 1944.

There is a possible claim by Ofw. Kurt Welter of 5./JG302           Berlin:        6.500 m. height       at 03.27

Hello, I have a thread on 166 squadron on this forum. I have the plane shot down by a FW190 flown by Oblt Albert Walter of Kommando Stendal at 03.40 hrs which is different from the information in the above post and demonstrates the difficulties in matching fighter claims to specific aircraft! If you email me on mjc41uk@yahoo.co.uk I may be able to assist you further. As you probably know Bill Dykes was the WOP/AG in the crew and was killed. Here are the missions he flew.
