My uncle Leslie George Jones was in 97 squadron based at Woodhall Spa, Lincs. He was the wireless operator on Lancaster R5537 - one of 6 Lancasters from Woodhall Spa to take part in the Augsburg raid in April 1942. Are there any relatives out there of any of the other crew members who might know anything about my uncle? I am trying to get an idea of what he was like so any information however little would be very much appreciated. The other crew members were - Flight Lieutenant Hallows, Pilot Officer Friend, Pilot Officer Cutting, Flight Sergeant Louch, Sergeant Broomfield and Sergeant Goacher. I'm hoping that because this was a famous raid someone, somewhere might remember something. I have seen the photo taken of survivors after the raid and they all look remarkably relaxed.
