hi I am trying to find any information you may have about my father his full name was William Ronald Blythe Jones but I think he was known as Ron Jones in the RAF, his bith date was 22.2.1920 and he was a navigator on the Lancaster bombers. He was in 166 Squdron and 49 Squadron.  His leader was John Briggs, I don't really know much more than that as it was a subject he didn't like to talk about but I would be very interested to find out his history, unfortunately he passed away in 1996.

thanks for your help in advance

Alison

Sgt W. R. B. Jones 151432 RAF Navigator 166 Squadron

Sgt Jones was the Navigator in the crew of F/Sgt J. C. Briggs RAF. The crew arrived on 166 Squadron on the 5/04/1945 and flew with 'C' Flight. Their first and only bombing operation of the war was an attack on Berchtesgarten on the 25/04/1945. Thereafter they were involved in operation Manna, the dropping of food supplies over occupied Holland and the repatriation of soldiers from the continent. You can contact me on mjcuk@yahoo.co.uk for further info. Best wishes, B.
