"Clear Hood Wings Test" notation in Logbook
Permalink

Can anyone offer any insight into the notation "clear hood wings test" in a pilot's logbook from Service Flying Training School? I understand the Wings Test was the final step before graduating, but am mystified by the "clear hood" aspect. Was this some kind of hood the student would wear so he could only see the aircraft's instruments, while his instructor/tester could see clearly the ground , horizon etc?

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers, Clint
