Best way to get around Alanya for sightseeing
Permalink

I'm thinking about spending my vacation in Alanya, Turkey this year. Been browsing around online and the accommodation prices look pretty reasonable, plus there's a crazy amount of historical sites scattered around the area. That means I could hit up different ruins and old castles almost every day instead of just laying on the beach the whole time. What's the best way to get around and explore all that stuff?

Sounds like you've got the right idea mixing beach time with actual exploration instead of turning into a lobster for two weeks straight. Once you start looking into all the old ruins and castles in that region, you realize there's way more to do than you even have time for. Renting a car gives you the most flexibility to cover ground and hit multiple sites in one day. You can throw all your stuff in the trunk, crank the AC when it gets hot, and not worry about carrying bags around while you're climbing through ancient amphitheaters.

The freedom to just stop wherever something catches your eye is what makes exploring on your own worth it. You'll end up finding random viewpoints that aren't in any guidebook but turn out to be highlights of your whole trip. You can rent a scooter in Alanya here: https://getrentacar.com/en-US/motorcycle-rental/turkey-alanya . Getting around on two wheels means you slip through traffic easily and park right up close to the historical sites. Scooters also sip fuel compared to cars and the rental process is quick so you're out riding within minutes.
