Fraternal greetings to all Bomber Command veterans & researchers.

My interest in this site is simply because my late brother Jack Goldstein of 166 Squadron was lost over Nuremberg on the night of the 16th March 1945, the only member of his crew to perish, the other members having sucessfully baled out to become POWs.

I was serving in Italy at the time of his death but have carried out much research since then, mainly in the late 90's and the story, graphically told by his son, may be seen here:

If there are any 166 Squadron types out there who knew my brother or would  like to know more of this research kindly contact me at this spot or see my Blog profile for e-mail details.

Hi Ron,

Welcome to our forum!

Great article about your brother, thanks for posting it!

I also went to your block and in my quest to learn one new thing everyday, looked up the definition of "Numismatics".

Dear all researchers. I have been sent information by LINDA, about a member of my family, who was a member of 166 Squadron flying Lancasters.
Raymond Smith (Pickle) (service No 1335530) was his name and he took off from Kirmington at 17.30 on the 15th Feb 1944, his Lanc was shot down by a night fighter, the Lanc crashed into a forest about 2km north of Freudenburg. All bar one of the crew were killed.(I think)
The crew were
F/O R J Robinson. RAFVR.
Sgnt HK Harrison RAFVR -pow.
Sgnt GF Clark RAFVR,
F/S RAR Smith RAFVR .
F/S DJ Stokes. RAFVR.
Sgnt NO Jones. RAFVR
F/O BO Wright. RAFVR.

Is there any one out there who can tell me more or anything about the crew, especially Raymond Smith, What nationality were the crew and where did they come from, I would like to everything about them plus any photos of them if possible,

My family & I would be extreamley grateful for any info supplied.

Thank you. Richard Smith

Giving this thread a bump in the fond hope that someone out there is also connected with my late brother's Lancaster.

Details shown at the first posting but you may have problems with the BBC link.

Lest we forget !

Ron

ps
I own a copy of "Wings of War", the official 166 Squadron book, and am quite happy to search for any details that are contained therein.
