I am attemting to find information on this gentleman who flew in Halifaxes in WW2. He is the grandfather of a friend of mine. His name is Reginald Atkin. Of course, if a wartime friend of his hears about this inquiry, it would be really swell as well. :)
If you would happen to know what service (RAF, RCAF etc) your friend's grandfather was in and which squadron it would certainly narrow things down quite a bit.
Yes sir, I know. But his grandfather is very tight-lipped about it. If it was not for this fact, my friend would have found information on his own. I was just hoping that there may be some sort of search engine set-up somewhere where a persons name could just be typed in, and walla. Thanks anyhow mate.

There are a few search engines like the one linked below, but if your friend's grandfather was not involved in incident such as a crash he will likely not appear in the database. My suggestion would be for your friend to ask his grandfather what squadron he was in, he can then take it from there. I've dealt with vets who I've been told were "tight lipped" and have still gotten quite a bit of information from them. It all depends on approach, asking where he was posted and what type aircraft he flew in is a safe approach. Asking for personal experiences up front is the surest way to scuttle things.
