Missing aircraft trades
Permalink

I'm hoping some of our forum members might be able to point me the right direction here. Does anyone know if there is a site, Gov. Office, etc. that could be contacted where I could get the trades of some of the aircrew who flew with 431 Squadron? both N.C.O.'s and Officers that I'm missing. I have the service numbers and names, but no trade. Thanks for your help.

Bill,

How many names do you have with no trade?

Hi Matt, In total there are 42 aircrew out of 1386 names that I have no trade for. Some are Officers which Richard said he would try to help with, some are N.C.O.'s, some are RCAF and some are RAF.
Thanks.

IF you can email the list of names I will see what I can come up with.

PS - Congrats on making wingco!

Hi Matt,Thanks for the offer of help. I've fired off an email to Linda with the names of the RAF aircrew of which I'm seking the trades, as it turned out there were only 6 or 7 she said she'll see what she can turn up but I'm just going to include them with the email attachment I'll be sending you. Re the Wingco, I never in my wildest dreams thought I would post so many items on your site that would get me there it is a nice way to acknowledge folks and quite appropriate I think. Thanks to ALL who have helped with answers to my many questions.

Hi Bill
How many of your "missing" trades were lost in WW2? If the dates are known it might be possible to work out the Aircrew Function from Chorley who makes a fair stab at publishing the crew names in a specific order, although even he acknowledges that his sources are not always helpful.
Regards
Dick
