MSI abbreviation
Permalink

Hi all,

I would like to ask if anybody can help me with MSI abbreviation. It was used in list of bombers in some kind of form. Each plane has a different one and it was number of 3 digits or 2 letters plus 3 digits.

I suppose it may be some kind of indentificator which was unique for each plane.

Many thanks in advace

Pavel

hello pavel

do you mean as in eg Halifax LV907 NP-F - where the LV907 characters indicate its place in the production sequence - and the NP-F are letters indicating its allocated squadron ?

It sounds as though you are referring to squadron codes, for a list of Bomber Command squadron codes havea look here...

Hi chaps, thanks for your replies but MSI does means something different then Sq or plane ID letters.

It is some kind of code used only in intelligence forms (and maybe also in W/T?) and was unique probably for each plane in the particular air raid.
