posting to 78 squadron then 35 squadron
Permalink

my late fathers service record shows him being posted to 4 group 78 squadron on 2/7/44 then 35 squadron on 2/4/44.
I thought 35 was part of 8 group.
was 78 squadron at Breighton in 7/44 flying halifax III's
was 35 squadron at Linton on Ouse or Graveley in 7/44
this last posting show NO/AIR P.F.F. OPL
then on 29/8/45 posting to 35 squadron as W?/AIR ?? presume wop/air gnr.
I know he was flying from Graveley in 945 as I have him on station ORB's but as yet to identify what and where he was in 1944.

I hope you can unravel this and possibly someone be able to give an impression of how movements were made(that could be worded better!)
he was at 10 O.T.U. in 11/43 and at Marston Moor in 2/44 presume training as w/op air gunner.

My thanks.

Paul,

35 Sqn was part of 8 group.

78 Sqn was at Breighton from June 1943 until May 1945 flying Halifaxes

35 Sqn were at Graveley from 15 August 1942 onwards.

Regards,

Dave
