Hi , I am keen on any information on AG Strapps. He completed his gunnery course at Dalcross and joined 432 sqn in January 1944 completing 8 sorties before transferring to 405 squadron, 419 squadron and eventually 428 squadron completing his tour in August 1944. He claims damge to a DO 217 over Essen on 26/3/44 a Me 210 0n 31/5/1944 but cannot find any corresponding combat reports. Three pilots are mentioned in his log book: PO Demaria, PO Dench and PO Plunkett ( who was KIA at the end of August 1944).
He then became an instructor at 2AGS Dalcross and appears to have survived the war. I cannot find any information on either Strapps or his named crew. I have his log book and photos but am keen on any other information out there. many thanks, Nick
Hi Linda, Unfortunetely no absolutely nothing other than his surname and service number. In his photos he looks like any other air gunner of bomber command ie late teens to very early twenties so a ? DOB 1923-24 I was hoping that other forum members might have friends or relatives that served in the same squadrons and might remember the young mid upper gunner! many thanks for your reply, Nick looking on find my past either leonard or howard but those are only guesses!
