Page 479 of Bill Chorley's 1944 Bomber Command Losses has the same information but adds a takeoff time of 1216 from East Moor and says your uncle and the rear gunner Stuttle lie at Reichswald Forest War Cemetery:
In November, 1943, Len was posted overseas for active duty and after a hectic training schedule in England, he was flying in Operations by September, 1944. This continued till early in November, 1944, when after releasing a bomb load over the German industrial Ruhr Valley, the German anti-aircraft did a job on the Halifax Bomber. Thanks to a parachute, Len lived to spend the balance of the war in a P.O.W. Camp. He was released by the Russian Army in May, 1945 and was home in Toronto by July, 1945.

Now that I am one of the crew I have found the way to post my pic, thank you.
My uncle, P/O T. McAran, RCAF is front row center, and I know from other correspondance that Sgt. C. Vaughan, RAF (now deceased)is back row left. Interesting the crew was all Canadian but one.
If any one knows anything of the others it would be nice to hear.

Hi, I have just been researching for my daughter about WW2 as she is studying this at school and her great grandad was sargeant Cyril Vaughan. Although i was aware of what happened to him, i was interested in trying to find something on the net that i was able to print off for her to take to school. The information you have posted has been of some help to me! My grandad unfortunately passed away on the 2/11/85 and was buried around the date of the anniversary of when they were shot down over Germany. The only knowledge i know of his injuries is that he was serverly burnt and ended up in a German hospital until he was well enough and transferred to Stalag Luft III where he became a POW unitl he was released in 1945.
