I am trying to learn of my father's time in bomber command and welcome any information. He was Flt Sgt Brian Warren, came from Cawthorne, Barnsley. All I know so far, he was a rear gunner, shot down over enemy territory and was imprisoned in stalagluft 3 until release at the end of the war. He was then sent to the Isle of Man where he met and married my mother. After a teaching career in Rhodesia, other parts of Africa and in the uk he died of cancer aged 55.
Anon, There was a Sgt B. Warren, shot down on 24/03/44, while on ops to Berlin with 576sqdn, pow in Stalag Luft 7. He was mid-upper gunner in the crew, but they used to swap around on occasions. If this is your father, please let me know, as i have the 576sqdn Operations Record Book which i can search for previous ops for him and his crew. The only airman by the name of Warren, held in Stalag Luft 3 was F/O R. Warren., of 550sqdn. Alan.
