Short Stirling III EE 893 JN-N - crashed 5./6. September 1943
Permalink

Hello,

I am a new member in this forum. My name is Uwe Benkel and me and my parterns are doing research on missing crewmwmbers of WW II. Since 1989 we recovered the remains of more than 100 aircraft all over Germany and also the remains of more than 30 missing crewmembers. More details you will find on our homepage www.flugzeugabstuerze-saarland.de in german and english.

A few months ago we got information about the crash of Stirling III EE 893 - JN-N of 75 Sqn (RNZAF). We located the crashsite and also one engine still buried in the ground at the crashsite.

We would like to get in contact with familymembers of the crew. It looks like, that the pilot P/O  E.S. Wilkinson (RNZAF) saved the village of Schwanheim. The aircraft was burning and made it over the houses of the village before crashing near the local cemetery.

If somebody can help us in locating familymembers of the crew, please contact us.

Best wishes

Uwe Benkel
