Remembering WWII airfields

Been busy making another video on a different WWII perspective. Many Lancs flew out of the abandoned airfields that now decorate the UK landscape. Have a look how I blended WWII achive video with images of current abandoned airfields. You can view it here:

Interesting commentary, extremely well crafted and blended.  Few realize the enormity of the massive construction projects that this all entailed the likes of which hopefully will never have to occurr again.  There is a very haunting and almost surreal feeling that overcomes one when they visit those remnants of Nissen huts and crumbling Control Tower structures, hangars and out buildings that remain.  I suspect there are very few former air/ground crew left able to make the pilgramage to their former bases or aerodromes but there are a few who have penned the experience of doing so in very poignant accounts.  Very commendable production of top notch quality.

How about Jurby. The main runway has been extended for larger aircraft, there some hangars (probably not wartime) and some buildings from the wartime - including the wooden GUARDHOUSE !
I don't know what buildings there are left that are protected. The Control Tower is and is being looked after, building-wise, at least.
Recent photo attached, I hope
