I've been trying to track down information on P/O T.R. Ashton RAFVR for some time. He was a crew member on a 408 Squadron Hampden bomber (AT139) piloted by my uncle, Robert Wishart of Hamilton Ontario, on the night of July 21/22, 1942 when they were lost over Holland on a bombing mission to Duisburg. The bodies of three of the crew were recovered, my uncle and one other being buried in Harlingen and T.R. Ashton being buried in Bergen-op-Zoom.
My uncle and two of the others were RCAF and so I've been able to learn at least something about each of them. But T.R. Ashton is a complete mystery. I've found no photographs, date or place of birth or mention of any relatives.
I have found mention of him at various sites but they add nothing beyond what I already know. I tried attaching links to pages on these four sites but I'm not sure this forum allows me to so I'll just list their basic ID which I'm sure you'll recognize:
www.lostbombers.co.uk
www.london-gazette.co.uk
www.unithistories.com
twgpp.org
If anyone has any information or can point me in any likely directions I would greatly appreciate it.

Sorry - nothing for you on Ashton. You may know about this but there are half a dozen or so newpaper clippings on your uncle if you search his name at the Democracy at War website: http://www.civilization.ca/cwm/exhibitions/newspapers/intro_e.shtml Cheers Dave Wallace
On the RAFRA site there was also 408 'Goose' (City of Kingsville) Squadron Association Mr R Fader, Box 10500, Stn Forces, CFB Edmonton, AB T5J 4J5. Dee

It seems that he was born, or at least live in Lima, Peru, in 1918.
In the Church of the Good Shepard, Lima, is a memorial plate for him and his brother Derek Kilgour, Sergeant of the RAF, killed in action over Germany in January 27, 1944.
