Can anyone help with identifying an Allied fighter that was shot down around the 20th April 1945 in the Regensburg area, apparently the pilot survived.

Do you have a little more information? Name, nationality, bomb group, type of plane?

Thanks for replying, I will make contact with my German friend and ask for some more details. From memory it was an American fighter.

I have managed to gain a little more information on the crashed fighter. It was a USAF fighter and crashed near to the village of Saxberg near Regensburg. The Allied army occupied the area shortly afterwards and the pilot avoided being taken POW.
