Tony,

If you email the RAF Museum's Department of Research and Information via their website, you can request a copy of AM Form 1180 (Accident Record Card) for this aircraft.

Chorley's BC Losses 1945 states, took off Wickenby for Balbo excercise breifed to fly at 2,000ft. Ran into thunder strom and crashed at 01.55hrs, at Wharram le Street, 12 miles NW of Driffield airfield.

You can also buy a copy of the 626sqdn ORB for July 45, from the National Archive's online facility, at £3.50 per month, but you will need to purchase both, the Summary of Events and Record of Events sections, which will be a total of £7.00.

Neil,

I have Sydneys RAF cap badge and some photo's but I do not know much about him/what happened etc all the relatives who could tell me about him re long gone. I remember my grandmother (his sister) telling me some storys when I was young but I have always been curious about him.

Sidney was my Mums Uncle, I did some research but I'm curious to know who it is that has Sids cap badge.  I have the original cloth wings he was presented with when he qualified as a Pilot.
