Ideally I'm looking Halifax III LK789 MP-L, but it does not appear in the book. The closest I can find are LK785 MP-T (on page 117) and LK788 MP-O (page 119).
Regards,
Mike

by sheer coincidence I had a beer one evening with a chap who flew LK788 (off the production line immediately before the HALIFAX MkIII you were asking about) on an air test after a major overhaul 09 04 45 .
My 1st edition of 'Dawn Breaking' bears this number IBSN 0 9507467 0 3 - is this the same as the book you're using ?
that is quite amazing, I would be interested to know if this chap served with 76 Squadron at Holme-on-Spalding Moor? My uncles crew began operations 22.10.43 to Kassel. They were later shot down on return from Karlsruhe 25.04.44. I have sent the details of their last operation to the link below, which also includes an illustration of what LK789 looked like.
what was the name of the pilot, his first op on Nuremberg must have been terrifying. I have the book ' Nobody Unprepared' History of 78 Squadron by Vernon Holland. For the raid, 16 Halifaxes had taken off from Breighton, but 4 returned early with various faults. 9 eventually bombed the target, three were lost.

If you would like to contact me, by going onto my whiteboard.
HI THERE, I HAVE A SINGLE BLACK AND WHITE CUTTING OF HALIFAX B.6 RG556 "D" DOG OF 76 SQUADRON, HOLME ON SPALDING MOOR. UNFORTUNATELY IT IS PASTED INTO ONE OF MY SCRAP BOOKS BUT I WOULD BE WILLING TO TRY TO GET A PHOTO OF IT AND SEND IT TO YOU IF YOU ARE INTERESTED. KIND REGARDS
