Hi, I'm not sure if this is still active...im trying to get some info/photos for my mum. Her father (my grandad) was a rear gunner in a Lancaster 1943-45 and she thinks it was 166 squadron. His name was John Norman Hyde Kerr but known as John (Jack) Kerr. I would to find some info for her. My email is amcdonald388@gmail.com
Apologies, I appear to have my posts mixed up, and I can see that Sgt Anderson had nothing to do with my original post. Doh!
However, I am still interested to hear from anyone who might have had a relative serve at Bircham Newton with 166 Squadron in November 1918 at the same time as my father Sgt Armourer Eric Parish.
Hello and thank you for your post. I have searched my records for a Rear Gunner called Kerr but can find only one, Sgt A.D. Kerr who joined 166 Squadron in February 1945. Sadly not the same initials as your Grand Father. You might tryb a post on a few other sites, Key Publishing Historic Aviation, RAFCommands and 12 O'clock high. Good luck! B
Sergeant Arthur Rollinson 1622914 RAF Killed in action 24/09/44
Dear Christine, thank you for your post. Sgt Rollinson was the Navigator in the Lancaster crew of Pilot Officer J.G. Davies RAF. There were 7 men in the crew, including your relative, all from the United Kingdom. It is not known how their aircraft was brought down as the wreckage was never located. It may well be that they were shot down over the sea. Their names are recorded on the Runnymede Memorial.
Their first operation together was Belle Croix Le Bruyeres on 01/08/44 and their last, when they were shot down was to Neuss. This was their 17th mission.
