Hi all,

Trying to find some details of a crash that occurred on Jan 5, 1945, basically the Chorley details if someone has one and doesn't mind looking it up, crew details are below.

I have done some research on the names that were listed in the logbook (including their service numbers) The following individuals I believe were killed in that crash. Hopefully this will provide some resources for others researching these men and their families.

John Clair McLeod - DOB 1924 Sep 25,
Service #J42059
Son of Albert Cecil and Maud Lena McLeod, of Minnedosa, Manitoba, Canada.

Edward Earl Fernandez - DOB 1917 Mar 06,
Service #J43561
Son of Jack and Bessie Fernandez, of Windsor, Ontario, Canada; husband of Ivy Mae Fernandez, of Windsor.

Lou Jean Robillard - DOB 1913 Apr 21,
Service #J45658
Son of Godfrey N. Robillard and of Anna Robillard (nee Quesnel), of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Edward Archibald Bishop - DOB 1923 Aug 01,
Service #R202976
Son of Riley A. Bishop and Rachael Francess Bishop, of Carseland, Alberta, Canada.

Any help is appreciated.

Matt

82 OTU Wellington, LP841.

Took off 19.45hrs for a night exercise, but stalled and crashed two minutes after take off, at Laxton, 19 miles NNE of Nottingham. During the last few seconds of flight, the aircraft collided with high tension cables, and burst into flames. One more crew member to add to the above list, Sgt R. Eden, RCAF, injured.

Info from OTU Losses, Chorley.

Images attached for info. This is the one close to the crash site. A second memorial exists at the church (which was locked when I visited)

Hi Matt, I am the grandson of the lone survivor of that crash.  I think most of the information I have I have already provided and is on the net, but I am happy to help if you are still looking for any info. My grandfathers log book is in our possession and that is where some of the information has come from.  I have been in contact and provided information to living relatives of some of the other crew.  Most live in Alberta, Canada now.
